  1. Great article! I completely agree that developing a growth mindset is essential for success in your twenties. My question is, how can someone continue to cultivate a growth mindset beyond their twenties and throughout their lifetime? Are there any specific habits or practices that you recommend?

    1. I am the kind of person that doesn’t subscribe to the one size fits all programs. I believe each person is completely different and learns different etc. So what I would answer to those questions is number one you have to know yourself. You have to take the time to evaluate and look yourself in the mirror and know how you learn and your specific goals. For me reading is the best way to learn. There is a quote in Game of thrones that essentially says books are to the mind what a whetstone is to a sword. However, I also have a friend who has severe adhd and so he needs short videos to learn from because he can’t focus enough to read a book. So at our Caveldc YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGgTkkh9X4E) we made some short 3 min videos personal growth and leadership development for him.

The key habits or practices are mainly formed around self-discipline. You have to be willing to set aside some time during everyday to grow. It is built into the fabric of your life.

Secondly, I have found as we age many people begin to develop this mindset that they have figured things out and don’t need to continue to learn. So cultivating a mindset of humility that I don’t know it all and things change constantly so I need to continue to learnt and grow. It is amazing what worked four years ago may not work anymore and we have to be willing to have humility to change and adapt. Life changes at the speed of light lately and so in many ways what we have learned two years ago we have to relearn the new ways because so much has changed.

This quote by road Dahl has also helped me

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”
      ― Roald Dahl

I think another key would be to keep a mindset of curiosity. It is not easy but counting to create a sense of awe and wonder will help you to continually want to learn and find more things that you didn’t know.

      1. Thank you so much for your extensive reply. I find myself agreeing with what you’ve said. I like the two quotes you used and have copied them into my Evernote pages.
