Thoughts from the Cave

For misfits, ragamuffins, and anyone finding their way through a hard season. These are notes from the caves of life, where we become who we were made to be.

David escaped to the cave of Adullam… Everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered themselves to him; and he became captain over them.

1 Samuel 22:1–2

What happens in the cave

Caves are where people get made

David spent a lot of his life in caves. That’s where he became who he was, and that’s where he found his tribe.

Stronghold

The cave is where you end up when life pushes you out. It's dark and it's quiet, and it's stronger than it looks.

Becoming

Hard seasons shape us. The cave is where who you are slowly turns into who you're becoming.

Tribe

The misfits found each other in that cave. Four hundred of them. Nobody has to do this alone.

Why the Cave?

David's hardest season started in a cave, and so did his tribe. Here's why this blog lives there too.

Cave LDC logo: the letters C, A, V and E hand-painted like a cave drawing

The mark

A cave drawing of the word cave

Look closely and you’ll find all four letters: C, A, V, and E. The logo is painted the way someone might have drawn on a cave wall a long time ago: rough, hand-made, and a little imperfect.

That’s the spirit of this blog. These aren’t polished answers. They’re marks on the wall from people who have been there.
