The Cave
Every story worth telling has a cave in it
Why this blog is named after a hiding place, and who it’s for.
The story
David's cave of Adullam
Before David was a king, he was a man on the run. He escaped to the cave of Adullam, and when his family heard where he was, they came to him.
Then something unexpected happened. Everyone who was in distress, in debt, or discontented came too. The ones who didn’t fit anywhere else. About four hundred of them, and David became their leader.
David spent a lot of his life in caves. That’s where he developed so much of who he was and who he became. It’s also where he found his tribe.
Everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered themselves to him; and he became captain over them. There were with him about four hundred men.
1 Samuel 22:2
The idea
Thoughts along the journey
This blog shares thoughts along the way as we spend time in the caves of life, becoming the best version of ourselves and growing into our purpose.
Honest about hard seasons
No pretending the cave isn't dark. We tell the truth about the hard parts.
Becoming, not arriving
Nobody here has it figured out. We're all being shaped, one season at a time.
Purpose on the other side
The cave isn't the end of the story. It's where leaders get made.
Who it's for
Whoever comes around the fire
There’s no target audience here. Misfits, ragamuffins, leaders, wanderers, people in a hard season and people just coming out of one. If these thoughts resonate, you belong.
We’ll share the thoughts and see who gathers around.
